Tabnak – As the fighting still continues between the Syrian army and terrorists all over the country, the army troops have managed to retake some important ISIS strongholds in different fronts.

Iranian news outlet Press TV reports that the Syrian army and its allied forces have flushed out ISIS terrorists from their last stronghold in Syria’s sprawling central province of Homs. Syrian media reported on Saturday that the key town of al-Sukhna had been completely purged of ISIS terrorists.

Sukhna is some 50 kilometers away from the border separating Homs from the neighboring Dayr al-Zawr Province. The latter is the last territory in the Arab country where ISIS terrorists relatively substantive presence.

Local sources also report that the army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIS and pushed them back from the village of al-Salehiyeh after they captured the village of al-Tarfawi Northeast of Abu al-Alaya. A tough battle is underway between the army and ISIS terrorists in Jubb al-Jarah East of al-Mokhrem.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the Syrian Army troops have fortified their positions along 30 km of borderline with Jordan and managed to close off the main supply routes of the terrorist groups from Jordan to the Southern part of the war-torn country.

According to the reports, the army men carried out a large-scale operation in Southern Sweida from al-Zalaf dam to the heights overlooking Tal (hill) al-Zab'a, Tal Zabi'ah, Tal Riyahi, Tal Asadah, Beir al-Sawt passageway and Abu Sharshouh region and managed to access the border with Jordan.

Local sources underlined the importance of the army's new advances and said that the army soldiers have cut off all the supply lines of terrorists from Beir al-Sawt passageway up to Abu Sharshouh that were considered as the main passageways for trafficking of arms and ammunition to Damascus and Sweida provinces and Badiyeh.

However, in another front, ISIS has sent more terrorists and military hardware to the Southeastern parts of Raqqa province to protect its last stronghold in the region against the Syrian Army troops' advances, local sources confirmed on Saturday.

The sources said that the ISIS terrorist group has forwarded a large number of forces and a large volume of military equipment to the town of Ma'adan in last two days to slow down the army soldiers' rapid advances in the region.

ISIS is trying hard to prevent the fall of Ma'adan to the army because the latter's control over Ma'adan will pave the way for the pro-government forces to enter Deir Ezzur province.

It should be noted that the city of Raqqah, which lies on the northern bank of the Euphrates River, was overrun by Daesh terrorists in March 2013, and was proclaimed the center for most of the Takfiris’ administrative and control tasks the following year.

It is estimated that a population of 300,000 civilians is trapped inside Raqqah, including 80,000 displaced from other parts of Syria. Thousands have fled in recent months, and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs believes about 160,000 people remain in the city.
