«یونان / Greece / Ελλάδα» کشوری اوراسیایی واقع در جنوب شرقی اروپا و جنوب شبه‌جزیره بالکان است. این کشور همچنین جزایری در ساحل آسیای صغیر مانند رودس، جزیره کس، ساموس، خیوس و لسبوس دارد. این گستردگی یونان حاصل تمدن دیرینه چند هزار ساله آن است. این کشور به عنوان مهد فرهنگ غربی و زادبوم دموکراسی، فلسفه غرب، بازی‌های المپیک، علوم سیاسی، تاریخ‌نگاری، اصول ریاضیات یونانی، تئاتر و نمایشنامه‌نویسی «شامل هر دو نوع کمدی و تراژدی» مورد توجه است. یونان دارای تاریخی ویژه و پرحادثه و دارنده میراث فرهنگی است که به‌طور قابل توجهی دارای نفوذ در شمال آفریقا و منطقه خاورمیانه است و ساختاری بنیادی برای فرهنگ اروپا و آنچه امروز به عنوان غرب خوانده می‌شود، به حساب می‌آید. مجموعاً فرهنگ یونانی بسیار بر فرهنگ اروپای امروزی اثرگذار قلمداد می‌شود. یونان در محل پیوند سه قاره آسیا، اروپا و آفریقا واقع شده‌است و میراث‌دار یونان باستان، امپراتوری بیزانس و نزدیک چهار سده سلطه ترکان عثمانی است. امروز یونان کشوری توسعه‌یافته و دارای شاخص کیفیت زندگی بالا و شاخص توسعه انسانی بسیار بالا است. این کشور همچنین دارای بزرگ‌ترین اقتصاد در منطقه بالکان است. یونان در دوران مدرن کشوری ضعیف در حکمرانی بوده و عمدتاً به عنوان مقصد توریسم مورد توجه بوده است. اکنون تصاویری از حال و هوای یونان را در دهه 1960 میلادی در تابناک تماشا می‌کنید.
